Candidates for Mr. & Miss Show-Me Basketball
The Missouri Basketball Coaches Association will honor
academic all-state recipients on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at the Academic All State
Banquet which will be held at the Reynolds Alumni Center on the campus of the
University of Missouri. The Banquet is being sponsored by the
At this time the 2006 Mr. & Miss Show-Me Basketball
will be named from the list of finalists below. Each were nominated for the
honor of being named and the winner will be selected from an anonymous panel
of assistant coaches from colleges and universities throughout Missouri.
Each year the MBCA produces an impressive list of
candidates and this season is now different. On the girls list Mackenzie
Stirmlinger has committed to attend Iowa State, while Brianna Culberson will
attend the University of Denver. Point guard Kelsey Luna will play at Indiana
State, competing in the Missouri Valley Conference. Felicia Chester, who
helped Incarnate Word to the Class 5 title will attend Depaul.

On the boys side there is an impressive mix of large
and small school talent. This may be the toughest decision in recent
years as the list includes several state champions, members of the academic
all state team, 2,000 point career scorers, and McDonald's All-American
nominees.

From this list below you will find the history of the
Mr. Show-Me Basketball award. Of the 21 winners each played a sport at
the division I level, with 19 playing basketball. While many of the
players came from the largest classes, Jaron and Kareem Rush were named from
Class 2A after leading Pembroke Hill to state titles. Marcus Timmons
earned the award in Class 1A after helped Scott County Central to several
championships, prior to his playing career at Southern Illinois.
