Vikings set sail for 19 season

The Francis Howell Vikings and head coach Brent Chojnacki enter the season with high expectations and a challenging schedule following a 7-4 season in 2018. On offense the Vikings must replace all-conference quarterback Aidan McDaniel, but return 7 experienced starters to aid junior Gus Hetzel in the growth process. Gideon Niboh(5-6 170) rushed for nearly 900 yards, scored 13 touchdowns and rushed for 4.3 yards-per-carry. Niboh will be a key on offense and will be a workhorse for the Vikings. Junior Dane Mahrmann(5-9 160) is ready for a breakout season, the talented running back/inside linebacker is one to keep an eye on this season.

The defense also returns 7 starters to a group that allowed just 22.5 points per game a season ago, finishing 5-0 in the GAC South division. The strength of the Vikings will both on the offensive and defensive lines. Mizzou commit Drake Heismeyer(6-4 295) is a load for opponents and a leader for Howell. Junior linebacker Charlton Watson(6-1 205) was dominant as a sophomore totallying 111 tackles, 4 sacks, and a pair of interceptions.

The Vikings will find out exactly where they are facing Ft. Zumwalt North and Kirkwood early and are again the favorites in the GAC South conference. Look for the Vikings to have another solid season.
