Mosports.com Class 3 Pre-Season Power Poll
#1 Maryville Spoofhounds (2013
record: 15-0)
A look ahead:
In two seasons leading the Maryville football program
head coach Matt Webb has never experienced a post game locker room following
a loss. He's never had to discuss what lessons could be learned from
defeat.....in two seasons Webb has guided the Spoofhounds to a 30-0 mark and
Maryville has earned a pair of Class 3 Show-Me Bowl titles.
"The quest for a third consecutive title begins Friday
night and Webb feels confident his team is prepared for the challenge
ahead", commented Webb.
"It's important for us to maintain the rich Spoofhound tradition of winning
with class. Taking the season one game at a time throughout. We have a lot
of new players that now have the opportunity to leave their mark on this
programs winning tradition."
On offense the Spoof hounds utilize the Wing T/Pistol and
will return all-state senior running back Brody McMahon(5-11
195), and senior all-state offensive lineman Jacob Cacek(6-4
265) who provides the holes for McMahon to run through. Junior
Dakota Beemer(5-9 185) returns as a second team all-conference
performer along with senior lineman Brendan Weybrew(6-4
290). Senior Payden Dawson(5-9 185) returns as a top
offensive threat along with senior wide receiver Hagan Snow(5-10 160).
The Maryville offense may have a tough time duplicating
the 39 points per game they averaged in their undefeated season. The
defense allowed just 11.4 points per contest. Sophomore quarterback
Trey Oglesby(5-9 155) will be called upon to direct the offense and is a
newcomer to watch along with sophomore tight end Blake Schreck(6-1 200).
On defense in their 4-3 scheme, Cacek returns on the
line as a dominant performer along with second-team all-Midland Empire
senior linebacker Tyler Coleman(6-0 185) and McMahon at
defensive back. Junior defensive lineman Dustin Piper(6-2
225) and sophomore linebacker Elijah Green(5-10 215) each
are newcomers to the starting line up who will join the seven returners and
form a formidable Spoof hound defensive unit.
