Offer close for Prewett?

Mizzou football's second one day recruiting camp was attended by around 300 prospects from all over the country. Among them was a good sized contention of prospects who have already committed to Mizzou or have received Mizzou offers, but primarily it was made up of players looking to prove to the coaches that they have what it takes to play on Faurot Field.

One of those players who appears to be closest to receiving an offer is 2014 Blue Springs (Mo.) safety Kaleb Prewett.

"I feel like I did pretty well. I tested well. [During] the drills my footwork was really good. The coaches said good things, too," he stated. "To be the best on the field and get the coaches attention is really the biggest goal for me during the camp."

So, did Prewett feel as he accomplished his goal of being noticed by the coaches?

"Yeah, I feel like I did," he said. "They wanted me to stay after and talk to more of the coaches. Those meetings went pretty well too."

As far as when that offer might come, it is hard to say with certainty. Prewett feels like he is close, though.

"The coaches haven't really told me anything specifically they're looking for or waiting on to offer. I've talked to Coach [Andy] Hill a couple times, and they said I did great at camp. They told me they will be talking with me more soon," he explained.

The testing that Prewett referred to included a 38 inch vertical, a 4.5 second forty yard dash, and measurements of 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds. Despite registering very good numbers across the board, he was not completely satisfied.

"In the forty I was hoping to be a little bit faster, but the vertical, I was pretty happy with that," explained Prewett.

Prewett holds offers from Northern Illinois, New Mexico, Illinois St., South Dakota, and Southern Illinois at this point. He is also hearing from Iowa, Kansas St., and Kansas to go along with interest from the Tigers.

A decision time frame is somewhat clouded as Prewett expects more offers to come his way, but he does have an idea of when he wants to make a commitment.

"I want to talk to my family and my coaches and just get everyones' idea," said Prewett. "I would like to know, really before this next football season starts, where I'm going."

When Prewett does make his commitment, the most important qualities in his school of choice will be in the classroom and not on the football field.

"Academics are the biggest factor I'm looking at," he said. "Then the family environment and atmosphere of the college. How everyone treats each other is another big factor. Last thing is being close to home, and Missouri is close to home."
