MOsports Super 50, Cutting Room Floor

It is always a challenge to produce a list of the top players in Missouri in October/November just as a season is starting, then releasing the list over the course of a season. Throughout the season some players surge, surpassing expectations of many of those who know them best, while other players face difficult injuries and other situations that limit their believed potential.
We asked for feedback on the 2013 Super 50 and received notes from many. We appreciate your thoughts. Here are some of the best we missed, according to the MOsports.com Community.

"You guys should really check out this kid Willie Jimmerson, a sophomore point guard for New Madrid County Central. The kid averaged 24 ppg and was the only sophomore to receive first team class 3A all state recognition. He could possibly be one of the best players ever to come out of the SEMO region. Here's an article about his 32 point performance against Sikeston, who I believe got 3rd place at the class 4A state finals. The kid is the truth!" http://www.standard-democrat.com/story/1940737.html

"Adam Roe from West Platte should be in the top 50. Individual and team stats can prove this."

"There is a basketball player by the name of Ogugua "OG" Anunoby you all should be looking out for. He plays for jefferson city high school and the St Louis Eagles AAU under 16 basketball team. He was a first team all district preformer last year. He is 6'6 195lb small forward. He has been turning heads already as big 10 schools and patriot league schools have shown intrest in him. Following his 16 point outburst in the first half of a game this weekend at the Nike TMT Sports showdown he was interviewed by buzzerbeaterbasketball.com."

"What about JT Jones from Sikeston? He was a Class 4 all stater. Come on guys! That one was easy!"

"Normally, I thoroughly appreciate the work put in on the Super 50 but I feel you all missed badly by omitting JT Jones of Sikeston from the list this season. Jones was the leading scorer and rebounder of the Bulldogs this season averaging somewhere around 18 & 9 per game along with being a versatile kid who could score inside or outside nailing a couple threes per game as well as doling out assists. While Vashawn Ruffin received ample praise for his play this season, he and Jones were truly a dynamic duo and Jones missing the list (as well as SEMO seeming to be virtually ignored in general) is a glaring omission on you guys part. Kevonte Mitchell, a junior from Kennett who led Class 4 in scoring and will be a phenomenal athlete next year, missing the list was also a disappointment."

"No Chris Kendrix, of Willard? Was this a typo? I think I could make a very good argument he belongs in the top 10, never mind the top 50. Other than that, looks pretty solid."
(Editors note: this actually was a typo, Kendix was on our list, but didn't make it to print we are currently working on a Kendrix story.

"I don't know, I bet I saw as much basketball in the state as anyone last year, there are probably only about 4-5 kids on that top 50 list that I didn't see play last year, and I'm 100 percent convinced Kendrix is one of the top 50 players in the state, and that's pretty much all I've got to say about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion."

MOSPORTS.COM SUPER 50

The MOsports.com staff with the help of top basketball talent evaluators from around the Show Me State have put together a list of the Top 50 players in Missouri. This was a difficult process to find the top players in the state, regardless of class. Players were evaluated on current level of skill, and potential at the next level.

This season presented new challenges selecting a list of the top players in the state. A trio of top Missouri stars and former members of the Super 50 left the state to play at prep schools. Former Rock Bridge (Columbia) guard Travis Jorgenson played at the New Hampton School in New Hampshire and has committed to attend Georgia Tech University.

6-foot-8 inch, 230-pound center Tory Miller was a junior selection at Lee's Summit North before also attending New Hampton Prep. Miller is undecided at this time and fellow Kansas City prep Ishmail Wainright who played at Montrose Christian and has committed to attend Baylor University next year.

What was left in the Show-Me state was a talented group of players with a very large and dominant junior class and some up-and-coming stars such as Blue Springs South sophomore Kevin Puryear and Chaminade freshman Jayson Tatum who was recently selected to represent the United States.
