Maryland corner commits

Maryland cornerback Marcel Joly has had Iowa near the top of his list for some time now. This past weekend, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound Joly was able to tour the campus in Iowa City for the first time as he made his official visit with the Hawkeyes. Before leaving, the three-star prospect decided that is where he wants to spend his next four years.

"It was great," said Joly. "I really enjoyed it. It's a good school and I had a lot of fun with the coaches and players. I actually verbally committed on Saturday night."

Joly waited until he returned home and had a chance to tell his family and coaches the news before releasing it publicly today. During his recruiting, he also picked up scholarship offers from Maryland, Vanderbilt, Temple, and Old Dominion, but says it was Iowa that came after him the hardest.
