Truitt happy with his decision

When cornerback Omar Truitt committed to Iowa a couple weeks ago, he did so without ever setting foot on campus as the Washington D.C. native had never been to the Hawkeye State. This past weekend, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Truitt finally made the trip and left town feeling even more comfortable with his decision. We caught up with him after the visit to get his thoughts.

Q: What was your first impression just visiting Iowa for the first time?

TRUITT: At first, when you hear Iowa, people think it is all cornfields and there's nothing out there but farmland or it's boring, but when I got there it's like this nice little city and a great college town that they have there. It was a great atmosphere. It was great seeing the coaching staff, seeing the players doing their workouts, and just seeing myself being a part of the program.

Q: What were some of the highlights for you this weekend?

TRUITT: Honestly, just talking to Coach Parker, the defensive coordinator, about the different techniques and the schemes that they use. Then seeing my future teammates work out and seeing the type of things that they do and how they grind. That really caught my eye. I like what they do.

Truitt, a three-star prospect, chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Maryland, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Richmond.
