Allegretti visits Iowa
Class of 2014 offensive lineman Nick Allegretti was among the large group of recruits at Kinnick Stadium for Iowa's game against Penn State on Saturday night. For the 6-foot-4, 280-pound Allegretti, who attends Lincoln-Way East in Frankfort, IL, it was a return trip to Iowa City that gave him a chance to learn more about the Hawkeyes and their football program.
"We had practice in the morning, so as soon as I got out of there, we headed over to Iowa," said Allegretti. "When we got there, we went to their indoor football facility, ate a little bit, and talked to the coaches. I talked to Coach Erb, who recruits my area, and another coach, Kelvin Bell, who is a grad assistant. Then we got to go into the weight room and tour the facilities."
"I was up there for their camp this summer, but we didn't really get to see much," he continued. "It was just the camp and then we went home, so it was cool to see everything this time."
This season, Allegretti has been to games at Michigan State, Illinois, Northwestern, Cincinnati, and Northern Illinois prior to Iowa. Despite the Hawkeyes' 38-14 loss to Penn State on Saturday night, the offensive lineman said the game day atmosphere at Kinnick Stadium was the best he has seen so far.
"It was crazy," Allegretti said. "The atmosphere there is like nothing I've ever seen. The fans are just insane and really loud the whole game. It was cool to see."
