January 22, 2013A solid junior season has propelled CBC (St. Louis) quarterback Tyler Creath into the recruiting spotlight. Awaiting his first offer, Creath ventured onto the road this weekend as he visited the University of Iowa.
Creath came away from his visit impressed with the school and community. "My visit was great", commented Creath. "Iowa City is a great town and the school (and football team) are a big part of life there. There aren't any pro teams in Iowa so everyone is really involved in the team and what's happening. It's like family. It felt really comfortable."
This season Creath earned first-time Metro Catholic Conference honors, second-team all-state, passing for 30 touchdowns and 2,697 yards. The six-foot-two inch, 205-pound pro-style quarterback came away from his visit to Iowa City impressed also with the coaching staff.
Included in the highlights of his weekend were visits with head coach Kirk Ferentz and Eric Johnson. Creath seems to have found components, which would provide a nice fit in the future.
"Greg Davis, the offensive coordinator seems pretty committed to a pro-style offense, which fits my skills really well", added Creath. "We run a multiple-set pro-style at CBC: about half under center and half in the gun. From what I can tell, passing accuracy and good decision making are key to Iowa's offense and I know I can provide those, along with leadership."
Other Big Ten programs including Michigan State, Illinois, and Indiana have met with Creath and visits to campus are a future possibility. With Nike Elite Camp, FBU, and upcoming Junior Days finding things to do in the off-season won't be a problem.
